Community Missions
First Baptist Church supports the following local organizations and others financially and by encouraging our church family to volunteer their time, talents, and resources:
Religious Community Services
RCS is committed to addressing the basic needs of Craven, Jones, and Pamlico Counties by providing food, clothing, and shelter to those who need it most through support from friends, local businesses and churches like ours. They do this by: building supportive community, engaging holistically, empowering life-change.
Habitat for Humanity of Craven County NC
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope for families in need of decent, affordable housing. Habitat partners with people in our community, and all over the world, to help them build or improve a place they can call home.
Operation Inasmuch
Operation Inasmuch is a worldwide ministry that comes alongside churches and pastors to equip and motivate them to obey the biblical mandate to minister to the “least of these.” Using the Inasmuch model of compassion ministry, it empowers believers to live out their calling to serve others and experience the joy that comes from serving. FBC Missions Committee leads our church in a one-day missions blitz where we plan mission projects for people of all ages and abilities.
Backpack Blessings
The Backpack Blessings program provides chronically hungry children with food to take home over the weekend. Backpacks are stocked with nutritious, child-friendly, and easy-to-prepare food. This program helps children achieve better test scores, improves reading skills, creates positive behavior, improves health, and increases attendance.
Coastal Women’s Shelter
Coastal Women’s Shelter, the bridge to empower survivors in their journey to safety and security, is the sole provider of comprehensive domestic violence services at no-cost to survivors in Craven, Jones, and Pamlico counties. Its range of services include but are not limited to court advocacy, transportation, tuition assistance, clothing, food, housing assistance, monthly support groups for adult and youth survivors, employment, a 24/7/365 crisis hotline and inter-agency information and referrals.
